One week of working as a MIDI arranger

Hey,

How’s it going? I hope things have been well for you. It’s been a while since my first entry where I mentioned about finally being able to work as a MIDI arranger. I am really having fun and I get to learn more about music, sequencing, and other things about life in general.

Is it tough working as a MIDI arranger? Yep, there was a point when we had to practice transcribing certain instruments for a song, I got so tired and stressed I ate ice cream right after dinner. It wasn’t that bad, especially if I had to compare with with my prior work experience. It’ll be better working my ass off trying to meet deadlines than trying to provide assistance over the phone for people who don’t even appreciate you. Not to mention that you get to work at your own pace too!

Is it a dream come true? Not exactly. Although I’ve been yearning for a job that has something to do with music, it’s still not the ideal job but still, that doesn’t stop me from really liking it, and eventually loving it. With the things I learn and skills I acquire each day, nothing beats it.

A lot of my colleagues are also active musicians. My boss is even a producer and has a lot of other jobs. I got to know people who still gig with their bands at night and was reminded of the important things if you want to make it big in the industry… passion and commitment. The musicians who work there clearly have those in contrast to most of the “musicians” I’ve worked with in the past. They’re on a different level.

So yeah, that’s what I can say for the time being and as I still try to chase my dreams, I hope you still chase yours earnestly. Until next time!
